Old Bridge 5-1 St. Nicholas AFC

TSDL SECOND DIVISION

Old Bridge FC 5
St. Nicholas AFC 1

A dominant display saw us run out a comfortable 5–1 win over St Nicholas in a match that was severely impacted by strong winds and heavy rain. Jake Mulcahy set the tone when a loose ball fell to him in the middle of the field and from 30 yards he volleyed the ball right under the crossbar to open the scoring. Roy Nugent doubled the lead with a well taken strike at the back post from a Dylan Guiry cross. We got our third when another pinpoint cross from Dylan Guiry again found Roy Nugent free in the box and this time managed to head it in at the near post. Just before half‑time a Simon O’Donnell’s corner found Luke O’Donnell, who rose highest to head it home. HT 4-0

The second half brought more of the same intensity and with our set pieces providing constant threats throughout the game we added a fifth when another whipped corner fell to Kyle Burke and he teed up Luke O’Donnell for a spectacular overhead kick that had too much power for the St. Nicholas keeper to keep out of the net. Defensively we were compact enough to limit clear openings and thought we managed to hold out for another clean sheet but St Nicholas did produce a superb consolation in the final ten minutes when a curling strike from just outside the D found the top corner. The result was a comprehensive team display and a vital 3 points secured.
