BT Harps 3-0 Old Bridge FC

FAI JUNIOR CUP 2ND ROUND BT HARPS     3OLD BRIDGE  0It was always going to be a big ask to travel away to the Premier League leaders in North Tipp and get a positive result and that is exactly what happened. They were a better team, well adept at playing on the astro pitch and although it took them a while they eventually broke us down. In the early stages we defended comfortably and didn't concede any chances in fact we came closest to scoring through Dave Garrett but their keeper saved. We were conceding possession but Alex Greene, Jake Mulcahy, Roy Nugent and Dave Garrett all had efforts but not significant enough to break the deadlock. As we approached the interval on level terms we were happy with the situation but in the three minutes before the break we conceded two scrappy goals which completely altered the course of the game. Up to that stage our defence of Shane Egan, Simon O'Donnell, Luke O'Donnell and Kyle Burke along with Connie Power and Emmet Fahey had dealt really well with all that was thrown at them. HT 2-0We started the second period hoping to be a bit more offensive bit we were rocked back on our heels after two minutes when BT Harps got their third with a neat header which keeper Peter Carroll was desperately unlucky not to stop. There was a steely determination amongst the players not to concede any more and we even created a few chances ourselves and probably should have got one but to be fair our opponents were comfortable and never looked pressurised.  We introduced our subs from the bench  Jack Fahey, Adam Johnson,  Fergal Gaughran. James Cleary  and Jake Walsh and they certainly made an impact which was a big positive for us.Congratulations and best of luck to BT Harps and they march on in this competition. A big thanks to our loyal supporters who follow us through thick and thin.
